Legal
Terms of Service
- Comic and PDF translation are licensed for your own private reading only. Do not republish, share, distribute or monetize a translated page or document in any form.
- No batch or automated use: by a human, reading what they translate, through the official extension or the PDF page on this site.
- You must have lawful access to whatever you upload, and you are responsible for whether translating it is legal where you are.
- We are a technical processing tool. We do not host, curate or publish comics, and we do not check what you upload. If you break the law, that is on you, not on us.
- Comic and PDF translation are free: a monthly allowance of pages per feature, refilled on the 1st (UTC). A page that fails to translate does not count against it.
- AI output can be wrong. Check it before relying on it.
1. This agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and FutrixDev ("we", "us", "our"), operator of the Translator extension and of translators-ai.com (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using any part of the Service, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
Two related documents form part of this agreement: the Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with data, and the End User License Agreement, which governs the extension software itself. Where the EULA and these Terms conflict about the extension software, the EULA controls; on everything else, these Terms control.
2. Definitions
- Extension — the Translator browser extension.
- Comic Translation — the server-side feature that redraws a comic page in another language.
- PDF Translation — the server-side feature that translates a PDF document and rebuilds it in another language.
- Input — anything you send us, principally the comic page image or the PDF document you upload.
- Output — what we return to you: the redrawn page, or the translated document.
- Credits — the prepaid units of account ("points") sold while the Service was paid. They are no longer sold; balances bought earlier still spend (section 5).
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old (16 where local law requires it) and have the legal capacity to enter this agreement. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the server-side features with the consent of a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
Accounts are personal and individual. You may not share an account, sell or transfer it, or let anyone else use your account’s allowance or any Credits on it. You are responsible for everything done through your account and through any extension token issued from it, including by someone you gave access to. Tell us promptly if you think your account has been compromised.
4. What the Service does — and does not do
4.1 Free translation is between you and your own provider
Text, page and subtitle translation runs in your browser against the AI endpoint you configure. We do not supply that model, we do not process those requests, and we are not a party to your relationship with that provider. You are responsible for your own API keys, your own usage costs, and for complying with that provider's terms. If your provider is unavailable, changes its pricing, or returns a bad translation, that is a matter between you and them.
4.2 Comic Translation runs on our servers
When you translate a comic page, you upload the image to us, we send it to a third-party image model to be redrawn, and we return the result. This and PDF Translation are the features that run on our servers and draw on your monthly allowance, and the rest of these Terms concentrate on them.
4.3 What we are not
We are a general-purpose technical tool that transforms an image you supply. We do not select, host, index, recommend, curate or publish comics; we host no library; we provide no way to browse, search or obtain any work. We do not review Input before processing it, and we have no knowledge of what any given page is or where you got it. The only automated screening that occurs is the content filtering applied by the upstream AI providers, which we do not control.
5. Your free allowance, and Credits bought earlier
5.1 Comic and PDF Translation are free
Neither feature is sold. Each account gets a monthly allowance of pages for each of them — currently 40 comic pages and 20 PDF pages — and the allowance refills at the start of every calendar month, UTC. Unused pages do not carry over, and the two allowances are separate: one cannot be spent on the other. The figures shown on your usage page are always the current ones.
The allowance is a courtesy, not a purchase. We may change it, or withdraw it, at any time.
5.2 Pages that fail cost you nothing
If a page fails to translate, is cancelled, or is refused by an upstream content filter, it does not count against your allowance — a failed translation is never charged, in pages or in Credits.
5.3 We no longer sell Credits
The Service previously sold prepaid Credits in one-off packs through Stripe. It no longer does: there is no way to buy them, nothing is charged for translation, there is no subscription, and nothing recurs.
5.4 Credits you bought while the Service was paid
Credits already on your account stay there. They are spent only after that feature's free allowance for the month is used up, and the rest of section 5 applies to them alone.
5.5 Expiry and no cash value
Credits expire 365 days after they are granted; expired Credits are lost and are not refunded or reinstated. Credits are a limited licence to use the Service. They are not money, not a deposit, not stored value, and not your property; they carry no interest, cannot be transferred, sold, exchanged or redeemed for cash, and have no value outside the Service.
5.6 Refunds
Because Credits are consumed immediately upon use, past purchases are final and non-refundable, except (a) where a mandatory consumer law in your jurisdiction gives you a right of withdrawal, which we will honour, or (b) where we have charged you in error. If you have a statutory right of withdrawal, it is lost as to Credits you have already spent. Unused Credits are forfeited without refund if we terminate your account for breach of section 6.
5.7 Chargebacks
Please contact us before disputing an earlier charge with your bank. Raising a chargeback instead of contacting us may result in immediate suspension of your account and forfeiture of the remaining balance.
5.8 Changes
We may change the size of the free allowance, or end it. Changes apply to future months and future jobs; they never retroactively reprice Credits you already hold.
6. Acceptable use — read this section
6.1 Comic and PDF Translation are for your personal use only
Specifically, and without limiting the above, you must not:
- Redistribute or publish Output. This includes uploading it to manga or comic aggregator sites, scanlation or fan-translation group releases, image boards, forums, social media, blogs, wikis, public or shared cloud drives, file-sharing or torrent networks, messaging groups and channels, mailing lists, or any other place where a person other than you can obtain it.
- Monetize Output. No selling, licensing, renting or trading translated pages or documents; no placing them behind advertising, a paywall, a membership, a subscription, a tip jar or a donation appeal; no accepting commissions or payment to translate works for other people using the Service; no using Output as content, sample or stock for any commercial product or promotion.
- Build a competing or intermediary service. No reselling, sublicensing or brokering access to the Service, your account, your Credits or the API; no operating a bot, group-buy, translation-on-request channel or any other arrangement that lets third parties obtain translations through your account; no using Output to train, evaluate or seed another model or product.
- Use the Service in bulk or by automation. No scripts, crawlers, headless browsers, schedulers, macros or other automation; no queueing whole chapters, volumes or series; no parallel or high-frequency submission; no use of the API from anything other than the official Extension or this site's own PDF page; no multiple or throwaway accounts, and no other means of circumventing the free allowance, rate limits or per-page pricing. Comic and PDF Translation are designed and licensed for a human reader translating what they are actually reading.
- Upload material you have no right to. You must have lawful access to every page and every document you upload — a copy you legitimately own, borrowed or lawfully licensed, or a work that is free to use. Do not upload material obtained by circumventing a paywall, access control, hotlink protection or any technical protection measure, and do not upload anything in violation of a third party's rights or of the terms of the site you got it from.
- Upload unlawful content. No content that is illegal where you are or where we operate; no child sexual abuse material of any kind, real or drawn — this is an absolute prohibition and we will report it; no content that infringes intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights; no confidential, classified or export-controlled material; no images or documents containing other people's personal, medical, financial or identity data.
- Attack or abuse the Service. No reverse engineering of the server-side Service, no probing, scanning or penetration testing without written permission, no attempt to bypass authentication, quotas or billing, no interference with other users, and no removal or alteration of any watermark, notice or attribution in Output.
6.2 It is your job to know whether your use is lawful
Copyright law differs sharply between countries. Translating a work you own a copy of, for your own reading, is treated differently in different jurisdictions, and in some it is not permitted at all. We make no representation that any particular use of the Service is lawful where you live. Deciding that — and bearing the consequences of getting it wrong — is entirely your responsibility. If you are unsure, take your own legal advice before uploading.
6.3 Enforcement
We may investigate suspected breaches and, at our discretion and without prior notice, throttle, suspend or permanently terminate your account, revoke extension tokens, refuse future service, and forfeit any unused Credits. We may retain and disclose records where we are legally required to, or where necessary to defend a legal claim. We reserve these rights in full and exercising or not exercising them in one case does not waive them in another.
7. Who is responsible for what
This section states the division of responsibility between us plainly.
7.1 What we are responsible for
- Operating the Service substantially as described on this site.
- Counting your allowance accurately — and, for any Credits bought earlier, reserving, settling and refunding them accurately. Jobs that fail are not charged.
- Handling your personal data as set out in the Privacy Policy, including deleting uploaded PDFs and result files on the stated schedule.
- Responding to valid copyright complaints under section 9.
7.2 What you are responsible for
- All Input you submit: that you have lawful access to it, and that submitting it infringes no one's rights.
- All use you make of Output, including keeping it to yourself as required by section 6.
- Determining and complying with the law that applies to you — copyright, contract, privacy, import and censorship rules included.
- The security of your account, your credentials and your extension tokens.
- Your own AI provider keys, endpoints and the costs they incur.
- Any taxes arising from your use.
7.3 Unlawful use by you
8. Intellectual property
Your Input. You keep whatever rights you already have in what you upload. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, transmit, process and modify your Input, and to pass it to our third-party AI providers, purely to produce and deliver your Output and to operate the Service. That licence ends when the material is deleted under our retention schedule. We do not use your Input to train our own models.
Your Output. As between you and us, we claim no ownership of the Output and assign to you whatever rights we may have in it, to the extent they are assignable.
Ours. The Service, the Extension, this website, and all associated trademarks and content remain our property or that of our licensors. Except for the licences expressly granted here and in the EULA, no rights are transferred to you.
Feedback. If you send us suggestions, we may use them freely and without obligation to you.
9. Copyright complaints
We respect intellectual property rights and expect our users to do the same. If you believe the Service has been used to infringe your copyright, send a notice to dylan@magic-design.art including:
- your name, address, telephone number and email address;
- identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
- enough detail to let us identify the material and the account concerned;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We will act on valid notices, including by removing material and terminating the accounts of repeat infringers. An account holder who believes material was removed in error may send us a counter-notice containing the equivalent information. Bear in mind that result images are in any case deleted automatically within 7 days, and that we do not host any library of works.
10. Machine translation is not reliable
Output is generated by AI models — image models for comic pages, text models for PDF documents. It may mistranslate, invent text, drop or alter dialogue, change artwork, break a document's layout, produce unreadable lettering, or fail entirely. Names, honorifics, wordplay, cultural references and sound effects are frequently rendered imperfectly. Output is provided for your convenience only.
Do not rely on it where accuracy matters: it is not suitable for medical, legal, financial, safety- critical, contractual or official purposes, and it is not a substitute for professional human translation. You are responsible for verifying anything you act on. A page that is refused by an upstream content filter is refunded, but we cannot guarantee that any particular page can be translated, or translated well.
11. Availability and changes
The Service is provided on an "as available" basis with no uptime commitment or service level agreement. It depends on third-party providers whose availability we do not control. We may change, suspend, limit or discontinue any feature at any time, and we may impose or adjust rate limits and quotas. If we permanently discontinue the server-side Service altogether, we will make a reasonable effort to give notice and to refund the unused portion of any Credits purchased within the preceding 12 months.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, if your payment is reversed or disputed, or if your use threatens the security or integrity of the Service.
On termination your licence to use the Service ends and any unused Credits are forfeited without refund where the termination is for breach. Sections 6.3, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 17 and 18 survive termination.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, quiet enjoyment or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that any Output will be accurate or usable, or that any particular page can be processed. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, business or anticipated savings, however caused and on any theory of liability, even if we have been advised of the possibility.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service and these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you actually paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 100.
We are not liable for any claim, penalty, fine, damage or cost arising from your Input, your use of Output, your breach of section 6, or any unlawful act of yours.
Nothing here excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under any mandatory consumer protection law that applies to you.
15. Indemnity
You will indemnify, defend and hold harmless FutrixDev and its operators, contractors and suppliers from and against any claim, demand, investigation, loss, liability, damage, penalty, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: your Input; your use of Output, including any distribution or commercial exploitation of it; your breach of these Terms; your violation of any law or of any third party's rights, including intellectual property rights; or any activity conducted through your account.
16. Third-party services
The Service relies on Google and GitHub for sign-in, Stripe for payment, Cloudflare for hosting, and third-party AI gateways for image generation. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their acts, omissions, outages, pricing or content decisions. The Extension is distributed through the Chrome Web Store under Google's terms.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us at dylan@magic-design.art and give us 30 days to resolve the matter informally; most disputes can be settled that way. If that fails, you and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in the State of Delaware, and each of us consents to venue there.
To the extent permitted by law, disputes must be brought individually and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, consolidated or representative action. If you are a consumer resident in the EEA, the UK, or another jurisdiction whose mandatory law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts or to rely on your local consumer protections, nothing in this section takes that away.
18. General
- Changes. We may amend these Terms. Material changes will be announced on this site or by email before they take effect; continuing to use the Service afterwards means you accept them. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service — you may request a refund of unused Credits purchased within the preceding 12 months.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the EULA are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
- Severability. If a provision is held unenforceable, the rest stands and the provision is narrowed to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable.
- No waiver. Not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign this agreement. We may assign it in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. Neither party is liable for failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
- Export and sanctions. You may not use the Service if you are subject to applicable trade sanctions or are located in an embargoed territory.
- Notices. We may give notice by email to your account address or by posting on this site.
- Language. This English version governs. Translations are provided for convenience; if they conflict, the English text prevails.
